Playing paintball can be immensely addicting, in fact when you first start, you really don’t want to stop! You play every weekend and try to get as many people involved as possible.

It’s a fun activity to enjoy with your family or your friends. However, after the first few weeks of buying a paintball gun, you realize that it isn’t firing with the same pressure it used to when you bought it, that’s because you need to refill your paintball tank.

Paintball guns push their bullets through the air with the pressure of the gas that you fill into their pumps. So, if you haven’t had your gas refilled you probably are experiencing reduced pressure.

We here at tickarise.com take pride in providing you the most accurate and up-to-date information on all things paintball. Be sure to check out our other articles as well, where we cover a diverse set of topics, from the best paintball guns under $500 to the best scope for hog hunting.

How should you go about solving this problem?

Well, by getting the tanks refilled of course! However, the real question is where can you get your paintball tanks filled in the first place.
People usually make use of the hardware stores they have near themselves, you can go to any welding shop, any place that sells scuba gear, or any local place that fills up gas tanks and you should be good.

Or you can always fill the gas up yourself at your own residence if you have a CO2 cylinder near you. A gas tank can be filled up for just about a dollar and you can have your paintball tank running and in the same condition, you got it.

If you’re hoping to do the refilling yourself or don’t have a retailer near you that can fill up your gas for you it is always best to order a tank filler and a CO2 container by yourself from the internet. The method is pretty simple and if done safely you should have your own gas filling unit set up.

Remember though, you can’t just work with any compressor. Paintball guns require a pressurized gas compressor or a CO2 refill depending on the kind of gun that you have.

There are two different types of tanks,

CO2 tanks:

These are standard level tanks and they are usually used by people who have just started playing paintball, a lot of people usually use these because they are super cheap to fill. They have known to hold about 20 ounces of air but usually run out faster than compressed air tanks.

Compressed air tanks:

Compressed air tanks carry more air and are usually used by pro players, they cannot be filled locally and usually need to be filled by paintball pro shops. However, these are expensive to fill however, they increase the pressure with the paintball is fired and can increase the efficiency of your paintball gun as well.

Moreover, it is also important to keep the PSI of your equipment in mind as well. Each and every paintball tank comes with its own PSI, so theoretically if you had a paintball tank that had a PSI of 500 you can’t go about trying to refill that tank by trying to make use of an instrument that cannot provide that kind of pressure.

A lot of avid players of paintball use these setups but it can be difficult finding a place to store the equipment. According to our experience, some of the best places you can get your gas tank filled are listed below;

1. By going to a pro paintball shop:

The very best place to get your gas-filled would definitely be at a pro paintball store. They have all the latest equipment, they will have everything you need. Plus if you have a good expensive paintball gun that you don’t want to be damaged or broken they can handle it correctly for you. Plus they usually have the tanks and the correct PSI equipment that you need on them.

They usually keep both CO2 and compressed air tanks and can give you tips on the maintenance of your paintball gun if you’re an expert as well. Plus, who doesn’t like to browse new stuff as you wait for things to be all set up for you. You might just find your next opponents there as well.

Moreover, a good pro shop is the best place you can go to get your gas tank issues fixed as well. Sometimes you might be experiencing a lack of air or pressure in your shots because your paintball gun has a compromised paintball tank.

At this point, you don’t need to be filling up the tank but basically what you need is a fix. A good pro paintball shop can do that for you. Plus, it’s best to get your equipment analyzed from time to time if you plan on going pro.

2. At places that have CO2 containers:

Several businesses keep CO2 containers with them for a number of purposes, you’ll definitely be able to find a shop in your community that keeps the compressor you need for your paintball gun.

At this point however it is important to be very specific about the pressure you want. People at these shops are usually unaware of what needs to be done with a paintball gun and how it should be handled. If you are going to a local shop we would recommend having some prior knowledge of how the process is performed.

By doing so you can make sure your equipment is being handled correctly and you can provide information during the process.
If you have a scuba shop near you they might be the best option. They have handled tanks similar in nature to paintball guns and usually have the right equipment because they usually require it for their own services as well.

3. Refill your tank by yourself at home:

Filling a tank at home, as mentioned before, isn’t a difficult thing to do. You can easily do it by watching a simple tutorial and ordering the correct instruments. You can get the right compressors and tubes by looking over your tank and understanding its specific requirements.

Each tank has its own PSI and the gun needs to be handled with care and so who better to do it than you yourself!
